Hello everyone, and welcome to the seven Minute Leadership Podcast. It's episode four seventeen. Today we're talking about something simple, quick, and powerful micro rituals. These are small, intentional habits you can build into your day to help reset your brain, refocus your energy, and boost your leadership performance. So let's

start with a quick reality check. Most leaders are running through the day like their hairs on fire, meeting the meeting, problem to problem, message to message, and somewhere in the chaos, clarity dies, focus fades in performance dips not because you aren't a good leader, but because your brain never got a chance to breathe. That's where micro rituals come in. A micro ritual is a repeatable action you do daily or at specific moments to ground yourself, refocus, or mentally reset.

These aren't thirty minute routines or wellness retreats. I'm talking about thirty second resets you can do between calls, before a tough meeting, or when you feel your energy slipping let me walk you through three categories of micro rituals that can immediately improve your leadership. Number one the mental reset ritual. These are quick mental switches that let you hit pause and clear the clutter. Here's one of my favorites,

the one minute close your eyes reset. When your brain feels overloaded, step away, close your eyes, Breathe deep, and don't think about anything, no solving, no planning, Just breathe. Sixty seconds later, you're mentally clearer. Another is the doorframe pause. Every time you walk through your office door or step into a meeting room, take one deep breath and say to yourself, show up on purpose. That three second ritual changes how you enter the room. Not rushed, not distracted,

but present. Number two is the energy boost ritual. Leadership is an energy sport. You're making decisions, managing emotions, influencing others. If your energy drops, everything drops. Try this the cold water reset. Keep a bottle of cold water at your desk, Chug it before a big task or a difficul called conversation. It's physical, it's alerting, and it tells your body we're gearing up. Another one you can try is the five second movement break stand stretch, shake out your hands, literally,

shake off the tension. You're not being weird, You're being wise. Leaders with rituals move better, lead, sharper, and don't burn out as fast. Number three are things called focus anchors. These rituals keep your attention where it needs to be in the moment. One of the most effective notebook First, before opening your email, open your notebook. Write down the one thing you want to accomplish today that will make the biggest difference. You don't let your day start by reacting,

you start by leading. Another is the post it on the monitor ritual stick a note that says why am I doing this right now? That question kills distraction, It forces purpose, and it will stop you from wasting thirty minutes doom scrolling on your phone. And let me pause here and say this. You already have rituals, they just might not be helping you. That morning phone scroll, that sigh before the meeting, that habit of checking email at red lights all rituals, all signals to your brain and body.

The trick is to take control. Replace those default rituals with deliberate micro rituals that align with the leader you want to be. And remember these aren't just productivity hacks. These are leadership signals. When your team sees you pausing before decision, journaling before you speak, or taking a breath before or a meeting, they're not seeing weakness. They're seeing someone who leads on purpose. So here's how to get started. Pick one time of day you feel drained or unfocused,

mid morning slump, end of day crash. Just choose it. Insert a micro ritual that fits. You don't need ten of them, just start with one. Do it every day for a week. Watch what happens. You'll be sharper, calmer, more present. That's real leadership power. So let me leave you with this. Big outcomes don't always come from big moves. Sometimes it's the ten second pause, the deep breath, the cold water, the reset before you roll into the next

thing that changes everything. Leadership isn't just about what you do out there in the world. It's about what you do and hear inside your head when no one's watching. So build the rituals, own the moment, lead with intention. This has been the seven Minute Leadership Podcast, and I thank you for listening.
