Hello everyone, and welcome to the seven Minute Leadership Podcast. It's episode three thirty in today's title might make you pause. Your leadership style is someone's workplace experience. Let that sink in for a minute, because it's not just a catchy phrase. It's the truth. Your tone, your actions, your decisions, your energy. They shape the atmosphere that people show up to every
single day. For you, it's leadership. For them, it's their job, their routine, their career, and in some cases, their dream. So let's get real for a minute. Think about the last time you were short with your team because of stress, or the last time you rolled your eyes at a suggestion or skipped a one on one. Maybe it was small to you, a blip, just a bad day, but to someone else that might have been the minute they decided you're not approachable, or worse that you're not a
leader worth following. This is the reality your leadership style sets the thermost that you either create a warm environment where people want to show up and give their best, or a cold one where they do the bare minimum until something better comes along. So let me give you two quick scenarios. Scenario one, you're a check the box leader. You give orders, you get results, and you move on. You don't see people, you see productivity. Scenario two your present.
You ask questions, you listen, you care. You don't just manage the work. You lead the people, same workplace, Two different experiences. Which leader are you? Because here's the hard truth. You may think you're a good leader because things aren't falling apart, but not falling apart isn't the same as thriving people are smart, they don't always speak up. They internalize, they talk to each other. They make silent decisions about whether to stay, whether to trust you, or whether to
mentally check out. You want to know if your leadership style is working. Ask yourself this. If I had to work under me, would I feel respected, inspired, heard, or would I be surviving the day? So here are five quick signs that your leadership style might need a tune up. Number one, people hesitate to speak up. That means they don't feel s safe being honest. Number two, you only hear good news because bad leaders create filters. Number three, turnover is high or worse, morale is low, but no
one is leaving. That's called disengaged loyalty. Number four you get defensive with feedback, and that tells your team the conversation is over before it begins. And number five your managing outcomes instead of building relationships. Results matter, but they come from people. So now let's flip it to five ways to make your leadership someone's reason to stay. Number one, say good morning like you mean it, small, sincere gestures
build big trust. Number two catch people doing right things because recognition doesn't cost you anything, but it's priceless to others. Number three ask how they're doing, then actually listen. No agenda, just be human. Number four model emotional consistency your reactions, train your team on what's safe to bring to you. And number five own your missteps. Accountability at the top gives permission for growth at every level. So you don't get to choose whether or not you have an impact.
You only get to choose what kind of impact you'll have. Someone on your team is deciding what kind of day they're going to have based on the way you walk into the room. Someone's going home to their family tonight, talking about what kind of leader you were today and someone is staying or leaving because of you. So ask yourself right now, if my leadership style was someone's full time job experience, would they thrive or survive? And make sure the answer is one you can be proud of.
