Helping leaders motivate their people to a higher level of performance through strong human relations, team building, and goalagiving. This is the seven Minute Leadership Podcast with your host Paul Fellovaledo.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the seven Minute Leadership Podcast. It's episode two fifty one. Today, I want you to shift your mindset and start seeing yourself as a salesperson. Now, I know what you might be thinking, I'm not in sales. I'm a leader, a manager, or a professional in my field. But here's the truth. In almost everything you do, you are selling yourself. You're always selling every conversation, every interaction, every decision you make. It's all a form of sales.
You're selling your vision to your team, you are selling your ideas and meetings. You're selling your leadership style to your employees. Even in your personal life, you're selling your character and reputation through the way you treat people. And just like in sales, the way you present yourself determines how others buy into what you're offering. You have to be transparent, honest, and to the point. Good salespeople don't rely on gimmicks. They don't trick people into buying something
they don't need. The best salespeople succeed because they are transparent, They communicate openly, setting clear expectations. They are honest, They tell the truth even when it's not what someone wants to hear, and they are to the point they don't waste time with fluff or unnecessary persuasion. And as a leader, this means being direct with your team. If you want people to buy into your leadership, you have to be clear about what you stand for, what your expectations are,
and where you're taking them. Don't waste your time on the wrong people. Here's another key lesson from sales. Not everyone is going to buy from you, and that's okay. Some people simply won't like you, they won't respect your leadership, they won't align with your values, or they'll resist every change you try to implement. That's not a reflection of you, it's just reality. A good salesperson doesn't chase bad leads. They focus on the right audience, the people who see
value in what they offer. As a leader, you have to do the same. Invest your energy in those who are willing to grow, willing to listen, and willing to be part of something bigger. Your leadership brand is your product, and at the end of the day, your reputation, your leadership brand is what people will either buy into or walk away from. So how are you presenting yourself? Do people see you as reliant, liable? Do they trust what
you say? Do they understand your vision without confusion? If you're struggling with buy in, it might be time to refine your message, simplify it, make sure you're being clear about who you are and what you expect. So remember you are always selling yourself, your leadership, your values, and your vision. Be honest, be transparent, and be direct, and most importantly, don't waste your time trying to convince people
who don't want to be convinced. And if you haven't done so, please five star review the show on your favorite podcast platform and jump over to my website Paulflavalito dot com.
