Helping leaders motivate their people to a higher level of performance through strong human relations, team building and GOLA GV. This is the seven Minute Leadership Podcast with your host Paul Felloledo.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the seven Minute Leadership Podcast. It's episode two twelve, and today we're talking about something that gets often overlooked in the hustle and grind of the leadership world, and that's celebrating the small wins. Now, I get it. Leadership is full of big goals, big plans, and sometimes even big problems. But today I want to show you why those little victories along the way are just as important, maybe even more important, than the big milestones.
So why do small wins matter? Well, leadership, it's easy to focus solely on the big picture, launching a major project, hitting an ambitious sales goal, or achieving long term strategic objectives. But what fuels those big accomplishments. It's the small, consistent steps that your team takes every day. Celebrating small winds isn't just about recognition, it's about building momentum. Think of
it like climbing a mountain. If you only look at the summit, it might feel impossible, but when you pause to acknowledge how far you've come each ridge you've crossed, it motivates you to keep going. Psychologists call this the progress principle. Small winds create a sense of accomplishment that boost morale, motivation, and productivity. And let me just tell you, motivated teams win. When you celebrate small winds, you're doing more than just giving someone a pat on the back.
You're creating a culture of positivity and progress. And here's what happens when you make small celebrations a habit. It builds confidence. When your team sees that their daily efforts are noticed, they feel valued. Confidence grows, and confident employees are more willing to take initiative and innovate. It also
reinforces good behavior. Celebrating small wins tells your team this is what success looks like, and over time, they'll naturally repeat those actions and attitudes that lead to positive results. It reduces burnout leadership and team dynamics can be stressful. Celebrating wins, even small ones, reminds everyone why they're doing what they do and keep spirits high during tough times. So how do we celebrate these small wins? Well, you don't need balloons in confetti every time someone does a
good job. So here's three simple ways to recognize and celebrate the small victories. Number one, just say thank you. Never underestimate the power of genuine thank yous. A quick email, a sticky note, or even a handshake with a smile can go a long way. Highlight success in meetings. Dedicate a few minutes in team meetings to share wins. It could be something as small as finishing a challenging task, or as personal as a team member showing leadership in
a tough situation. But you should always celebrate wins in meetings and also celebrate publicly. If someone goes above and beyond, don't keep it private. Share their success with the team or even the whole organization. A little public recognition can inspire others to step up too. So I have a little story here from my own experience. In my organization,
we once implemented a new process for fleet maintenance. It wasn't an overnight success, but one of our team members took the initiative to streamline inspections, build out an app, track this stuff on a website, and after the first month, compliance rate jumped by ten percent, and that might not sound huge, but we celebrated it because it showed progress. Recognizing that small wins encouraged the team to stick with the system, and by the end of the quarter, we
were operating at over ninety five percent compliance. One small win led to a major victory. So here's my challenge for you. Take a look at your team's progress this week and find one small win to celebrate. Maybe it's a project update, a skill someone mastered, or even just someone stepping up to help a teammate. Recognize it, celebrate it and watch what happens to your team's energy. So I want you to remember leadership isn't just about the big goals. It's about the journey and the little wins
that make it worthwhile. If you found this episode helpful, share it with someone who might need a reminder to celebrate their team's progress. So until next time, keep leading with purpose and don't forget to celebrate the small wins along the way. This has been the seven Minute Leadership Podcast, and as always, I thank you for listening.
