Helping leaders motivate their people to a higher level of performance through strong human relations, team building, and goal of giving. This is the seven Minute Leadership Podcast with your host Paul fella Aldo. Hello everyone, and welcome to the

Seven Minute Leadership Podcast, Episode one eighty six. And kind of an interesting topic to discuss for this episode, and that's building your own war room and more and more, especially in the political arena today, you hear about this candidate's war room, and that candidate's war room or that company's war room. So what exactly is it? So basically, it's a dedicated strategic planning center within a business, often referred to as a war room, and this can

be an effective way to monitor and strat gize for your business. So if you've ever considered creating a strategic planning center or war room for your business, here are some steps you can take to establish one and build a dedicated team to operate within it. So number one, it's going to all circle around defining the purpose right, determine the specific objectives for your strategic planning center.

Identify the key focus areas such as I want to use it for market analysis, competitive intelligence, project tracking, or even long term planning, and then you have to allocate space. You have to set aside a dedicated physical space for your war room. It should be large enough to accommodate team members and equipped with necessary tools like whiteboards, projectors, screens and comfortable seating. And

then you have to assemble the team. You have to identify the individuals within your organization or even externally who possess the relevant skills and expertise for strategic planning. Recruit those team members who can analyze data and think critically and contribute to decision making processes. And then you have to establish the roles right. Define the roles and responsibilities of each team member based on their expertise in the objectives

of the war room. Assign a leader or facilitator who can coordinate and guide the team's activities whenever that strategic planning center is active. And then you have to develop the processes right. Established clear processes for gathering and analyzing data, setting goals and evaluating progress. Determine how frequently meetings will be held, what reports should be generated, and how decisions will be made. And most importantly,

when do you activate the strategic planning center? Is it a monthly operation? Is it a daily operation or as needed only for certain key things that happen within your business. And then incredibly important is to implement technology, select and integrate appropriate technology tools that support things like collaboration and data visualization and information

sharing. And examples could include project management, types of software, data analytics platforms, and communication tools, all to hopefully enhance seamless collaboration amongst the team. And then you have to set matrix and create dashboards to find key performance indicators and metrics that align with your business goals and the purpose of your strategic

planning center. Create visual dashboards or reports that provide real time updates and insights and enable the team to monitor that progress and make those data driven decisions on whatever the overall mission of your war room is. The next area of consideration

is collaboration, and this is going to be within your team. You have to encourage open communications and ideas sharing and collaboration amongst the team members and establish a culture within your war room that values obviously diverse perspectives, constructive feedback in

continuous improvements. Because the tone of a strategic planning center or war room is not always going to be rainbows and unicorns, it's going to be a little turbulent at times, depending on what the overall mission of your war room is. And then regular review and adjustments. Schedule regular review sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of your war room and the team's performance, make necessary adjustments to improve

processes, update goals, or address any challenges that you're encountering. And then incredibly important is to maintain momentum. You have to keep the momentum going by consistently investing time and resources and attention into the strategic planning center. Regularly engage with the team, provides support and ensure alignment with the overall business strategy.

So remember, the success of your war room or your strategic planning center will depend on the commitment, collaboration, and continuous improvement efforts of both your team and yourself as a leader. Over the years, I found there is nothing that recharges my batteries more than being in this type of planning center environment with like minded individuals all working toward a common purpose.
