Episode description

It’s easy to be physically present while your mind is somewhere else—replaying the past or rushing ahead. That split attention quietly drains meaning from even the best moments.

This episode centers on the power of full presence. When you’re completely where you are, clarity sharpens, calm deepens, and life feels more real. You’ll explore how total presence creates a true daily reset by bringing your attention back to what’s actually happening now.

Pause for a few minutes, settle your breath, and let this moment invite you to arrive fully—right where you are.

If you ever need a calm space to think, relax, or just breathe for a while, I’ve created something new called OCEANSCAPE FM on YouTube. It’s simple, just soft piano and open ocean views, designed to be there when you need it.

Wherever you are, be there totally, and that is the thought for today. Welcome to seven Good Minutes. I'm Clyde Lee Dennis. Thanks for joining me for what I believe will be seven of the most enriching minutes of your day. In today's episode of Seven Good Minutes, we talk about the art of being present by practicing mindfulness in everyday activities. Enjoy mindfulness is the practice of being fully engaged and

present in the moment without judgment. It's about noticing the details of your experiences, whether you're eating, walking, or simply breathing. The art of being present allows you to savor every aspect of your life, turning ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. By cultivating mindfulness, you reduce stress, enhance your focus, and improve your overall well being. Start by paying attention to your breath, noticing when your mind wanders, and gently guiding

it back to the present. This simple act of being aware can transform your daily activities into a series of mindful moments, enriching your life with a deeper sense of peace and satisfaction. Mindful eating is a practice that encourages you to fully experience and savor your food. It involves paying close attention to the taste, texture, and aroma of what you're eating, as well as noticing any thoughts or feelings that arise during the meal. Begin by taking small bites,

chewing slowly, and really tasting each mouthful. Turn off distractions like TV or smartphones to fully focus on the experience. Mindful eating not only enhances your enjoyment of food, but also helps with digestion and can prevent overeating. By treating meal time as a mindful practice, you cultivate a healthier relationship with food, learning to eat for nourishment rather than out of boredom or emotion. Taking a mindful walk in nature is an effective way to connect with the present

moment and the world around you. Choose a natural setting if possible, and as you walk, pay attention to the sensations under your feet, the sounds around you, and the sights in your field of vision. Notice the feeling of the air on your skin, the colors of the trees and sky, and the variety of sounds from birds or rustling leaves. This practice not only grounds you in the present, but also deepens your connection to the natural world, providing

a sense of calm and rejuvenation. Mindful walking is a simple, yet profound way to reduce stress and increase your overall sense of well being. Incorporating mindfulness into routine tasks can transform mundane activities into opportunities for presence and awareness. Whether your washing dishes, taking a shower, or driving, you can practice mindfulness by fully focusing on the task at hand. Notice the sensations involved, such as the warmth of the

water or the grip of the steering wheel. When your mind wanders, gently bring it back to the present. This practice turns everyday activity into a form of meditation, helping you cultivate a continuous state of mindfulness. Over time, you'll find that these moments of presence accumulate, leading to a more mindful and enriched life. Mindful listening is about fully focusing on the person speaking to you without formulating your

response while they're still talking. It requires you to be present and fully engaged, showing genuine interest in understanding their perspective. This practice not only improves communication, but also deepens your connections with others. By listening mindfully, you create a space where the speaker feels valued and heard, fostering a sense of empathy and respect. This approach to listening can transform

your relationships, promoting more meaningful and authentic interactions. Cultivating a daily mindfulness meditation practice is a powerful way to develop and maintain a state of presence in your everyday life. Dedicate a few minutes each day to sit quietly and focus on your breath, observe your thoughts and sensations without judgment, allowing them to pass through your mind like clouds in the sky. This daily practice strengthens your ability to be

mindful throughout the day, not just during meditation. It serves as a foundation for bringing mindfulness into all your activities, enhancing your capacity to live fully in each moment. Over time, this practice of daily meditation becomes a cornerstone of a mindful life, promoting peace, clarity, and a deepened sense of presence. That does it.
