We're getting closer to Christmas ties my stuff set up. Hi, Welcome to fifty plus, my little mini series I'm doing on every ten years leading up to today twenty twenty three. I'm James Lott Junior, and thank you so much for making the first few episodes very popular and the comments I've been getting, and you guys been going down and relaying with me, especially Michael Marie drooming all of a sudden, especially nineteen eighty three, which was last week's
show. We could check out seventy three to eighty three, and now we're on ninety three, And just like the others, I'm telling you little about me, also the big the top movies, video, top movies, TV shows, albums and songs of that year. And I'm also showing a personal picture of myself of that year. And I'm in here somewhere, and I'm choosing this picture on purpose. If you're listening to me, you can't see
it, but it's a picture of me and three of my friends. And the reason why I show this picture from nineteen ninety three in an apartment I lived in. We all moved to San Francisco at the same time. We had all lived various places. We moved in together for a bit, and this was us having just one of our dinners. We were so young. I was I was thirty four years old at this picture and we were just having it. We were just we were like, not thirty four, I
was twenty four. I'm like, hold, I was twenty four at this picture and we were all just living life. We were in San Francisco. We were so excited, we couldn't believe it. And well, we've all gone in separate ways in terms of where we live. I still still talked to one person in a group. The other two I haven't touching a long time, but hoping doing well. But that was me a long time ago and land far away. We had moved to San Francisco and I was coming
from Sacramento. I was co raising my little girl, Monica Lisia still and I go to second all the time for that where they come to San Francisco and my friend Nick and I was in that picture. We got a two bedroom flat. It was long, it's huge walking in the south the market area or the Mission area of San Francisco, and uh, he got We were both looking for jobs. He moved here first. Then I moved a month or so later, and then I looked for a job while he was
looking for one. Two. I got a job right away, actually at a place called Cafe Salamagundy. Don't ask me what that means. I can't remember, but it was a super place. They served soups and bread balls and stuff. And I had to go work early in the morning, the morning shift, the opening shift. The guy guess to get it ready and then for lunch rush i'd be off. And that's my first job. And I worked across from the famous Treasury building on Market Street. I worked in.
It was one Market Street is where I worked, and it was inside. It was on the first floor. The top floors were all businesses. The first floor were restaurants, and then it was also this area there was like a food court. And that's what I worked in good Court. And now it's a short job. I had it for I don't know. I can't remember how many months I was there, but I was there. I was something with it right now. I ran across from my past dubs. Recently, I was like, oh, I still have it. But I
was first, just I was first back, first on a cashier. I didn't make the soup or anything a brand, and I worked there. I was there, I thing about five months I think, because yeah, I guess about four or five months. And then a drawer care I was shorting to accuse me of stealing, which I didn't steal it, and I left. I was like, I quit before they can even fire me. I
was like, I just like quit. And then I went to look for another job, and I went across the mall area and I went to Camelot Music, and Camelop Music said we have we have no locations here with any openings. We went out in daily city. I'm like, where's that at? And back then the BART system, which is the the s is some thing to go all the way out there throughout the city. So I had tak a bart to a bus to a bus, got to Sarahmancy Center, which is a big center there, and a plot went in and I got
the job. Well first I went in there like, well, well think about it, bla blah blah. I got home and I got a phone call. I had a job, and so literally I think it was how I was about a job for maybe like a couple of days I remember correctly, and I had a new job Alsrey Popper Sarway some money. They knew me in there and and we had a good time. And but I was just I mean those kind of jobs, they always had bad management. We were all overworked and underpaid, you know, all that, all that stuff,
and but they're going to camelop music. That changed my actually whole life in terms of the rest of my life the rest of that decade. So made good friends and I'm still friends with to this day. Shout out to Andrew Michelle and had a whoby life after that. I was dating somebody at the time from Sacramento and we moved to Sara together. So we were still together at this time, and I think is that everything. And I had a little cat bat Bat she was she was mixed, but kind of kind
of stuck with me in my room. I had the back room back after the room. We're paying nine fifty for our two bedroom plays. But then our friends came, Tara and Dan, we were in the picture and they stayed up. A lot of folks stayed in our house at some point, but we had but we it was I was there six years and I went on my own, but it was it was a fun time. Were young, young, and tender, watched the clubs, had a good time. I was learning, we're trying to nav get our way in this big this
big city in San Francisco. But I always say, because by the time, well, we'll still be when we get to twenty, we get to twenty. Now two thousand and three will still be in San Francisco. But I will just say this, we get a twenty thirteen will be different story. But I will say that I grew up in Sacramento and in San Francisco. I'm from Los Angeles, I was raised and you know we're here, but I grew up in those two cities. In San Francisco taught me a
lot about myself in so many great ways. Anyway, that's that's that's that's kind of my personal part of this. Now I'm going to give you some of the things that are going to have time. These guys, you guys see to love this part, of course, and it's funny. So these were, according to Billboard Magazine, the Bible of the industry of music, the top ten songs of nineteen and I'm reading them from ten up. These were these are the biggest sellers, most sellers have it back then everything.
So these are the top I can you, I can't look at so going that was topic. These were These were top ten songs I didn't This is the top ten songs at number ten, the top ten songs of my three, number ten of the Hot one hundred informer by Snow. Number nine This is so nineties. Number nine Rump Shaker Rex in effect. That song was very you know yeah, I was verywhere Number eight dream lover Come Rescue Me
Ray Carrey, number seven. This song is so good if I ever fall in love by Shy remember them, I get so wee get the knees I can hard least. Week Number six is by SWV and week Silk because that number five would freak me. That's the number five song of all that's so funny, I mean. And number four ists That's the way Love. That's the way love. That's the way love. That's the way love. That's the way love. You know what it is, Jan Jackson, That's the
way love goes. Number three. This song was big Can't Help falling in Love by UB forty the number two song. And this song was everywhere. Whoop there it is, Whoomp there it is Shotga Locker Shotga Locker shocka Locker Shaka Boom Tag Team number two songs in the Country and the number one song of nineteen ninety three and the Hot one hundred of Billboard is a pitch perfect song from a movie called The Bodyguard and from the artist Whitney Houston, written
by Dolly Parton. I Will Always Love You. That song is pitch perfect, not surprise number one. I would do things a little different because I've been I'm doing I'm gonna, I'm going I usually I think I was doing singles and TV the albums and I'm just gonna go straight through you and do singles and now the top ten best selling albums of the Hot two hundred US Billboard chart of nineteen ninety three according to Billboard, still at number ten.
I love them Actually, Stone Temple, Pilots and Core number nine and I'm a huge fan of his Garth Brooks and the Chase. I'm a huge fan of this next band, so you can tell that it was the early nineties. Grunge was in at number eight. Is ten by Pearl Jam, number seven, Pocket Full of Crypt, Tonight by the Spin Doctors, number six, The Chronic Doctor, Dre Nar five he worked it out, some gave all Billy Ray Cyrus. Oh and this this was probably was my favorite album
of that year at number four. Ship with the with the hands over her breasts Janet by Janet Jackson number three because I had tears of seven songs, he had lost his son, fell out a window. I'm Plugged by Eric Clapton. I don't get him, but people love him. They loved him
back the day I didn't. I think I owned one thing of his Kidny g was number two with Reathless. I mean I remember he sold a lot of records, a lot, and the number one album it matches the one song the Bodyguard soundtrack by Miss Whitney Houston, and of course a few other artist are on it too. My favorite song, of course is track number nine, just one Look at You and the World is all Right with Me,
the song with Soul System. It's Gonna be every Day. So Whitney's is number one of that year, of course, just just was She kills her year. Music is killing it, just killing and killing and killing and killing and killing it. Now it's time for the top ten Top ten grossing movies of nice twenty three, and I'm a little blown out in here, and if you're watching me, I'm sorry, Mike. I can get back in the good light. I'll just light to come on. Let us light

Number five Misses Doubt Fire, which was just
pure genius. Number four Sleepers in Seattle, Number three, The Firm, Number two, The Fugitive and a movie I saw so many times in the theater because it was I mean when it came out, the special effects were just amazing. The number one top grossing movie of nineteen ninety three in America and Canada was Jurassic Park. You have my first game. I came out. I die them Diasaurs look real and it was a good, suspenseful it was just it was everything, was everything you needed to be all right.
Lastly, I guess gonna membory laying. I mean, this is thirty years ago. You guys so crazy. Okay, these are top well the way you I was sitting here, so all of them. I'm tired. Let me see, Okay, the way you have Okay, the way I have it written. Oka, I'm gonna do the top eleven shows, the top eleven shows of the ninety three ninety four season. Now I always say this, I could have done ninety two ninety three season. The reason why do
ninet three ninety four season because that's actually the beginnings. I'm talking about twenty nine ninety three, nine ninety two, so it's the beginning of the season going into twenty nine to the next year. So I'm choosing to do that season and not the other season ending ninety three. Just low, just a choice. And number eleven is murder, she wrote CBS. Number ten is the CBS Sunday Morning Sunday Movie. I love CBS Sunday Morning actually, but
the CBS Sunday Movie at CBS. And number nine is Murphy Brown CBS Go on CBS, The Tiffany Company, Working it Out, Ray Brown's Bomb. Number eight Monday Night Football ABC. Number seven, the show that's back and on Paramount Plus and I'm loving it. I love the show. I love it, love it, love it. And number seven is Frasier NBC. I'm Black in the new version. Number six, the show I Think It's
Underrated Coach ABC. Number five would show that if she hadn't messed up her life, I think it could have gone on to be a really continued success. She was. It was huge out the gate. Brett Butler was such a funny person. Some people saw it as a Roseanne knockoff of some sorts, but I thought it was really good. And it's Grace Underfire, That's what ABC. And that was literally a huge hit. And right above the number four its Roseanne ABC. I know people think she's crazy, all that
stuff and all that, all that, but that all aside. The show. Roseanne was the bomb. That show was the bomb, and it was like nothing else, number three, Sein Failed NBC, a show that I loved. I mean, I find myself busting up all the time. Home Improvement was number two ABC and the number one show. But I still watch it the number one show, and it's it's a fifty fifth, fifty sixth season or whatever it is. Sixty minutes CBS, O crazy, that's someone
show. That's the number one show of nineteen ninety four here in America. So those are your stats. Nice thinty three. For me again, it was a year of new beginnings. I was in a new place. I was going to start a new life. I was in my mid twenties and raid and raid a rock and roll and just see what's going out and see what my next destiny was going to be. So I think back in the time, going wow, it's it's one of my most It's one of my
transformative years, one of the years I did change. I think this thing is making it worse. Oh on, here, put that off. Oh we turned something else better, although I do make it better. Oh no, God like that, Okay, sometimes likes shames with lights. And so it's one of those years. Because the next year we get to twenty thirteen, We're gonna be a transformed a year for me. It's a few years off by transformative year and then twenty twenty three or end. It has been
a year of years as I said, So we're getting there. I'm James Logia fifty pluses on all audio stream platforms. You just want to listen j l Jmida YouTube is the channel. I'm James lo Jr. And I'll see you guys next time.
