[SPEAKER_01]: Hey coach, I'm going to play with you. [SPEAKER_01]: Free country. [SPEAKER_01]: As you'll hear, the film is only kind of about the Supreme Court, but it does in its way center around the court's 2022 ruling in favor of Joe Kennedy. [SPEAKER_01]: Football coach at a public high school claimed a first amendment right to pray on the field during games. [SPEAKER_01]: You weren't trying to convert them? [SPEAKER_02]: Look, I'm a Marine, and the Constitution means something to me.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's always been a freedom thing. [SPEAKER_01]: The result is a muddled bit of Christian propaganda that is much less fun to watch than it is [SPEAKER_01]: This is 5-4. [SPEAKER_01]: A podcast about how much this Supreme Court sucks. [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to Five to Four, where we dissect and analyze the Supreme Court cases that have done a hostile takeover of this country, like Paramount taking over Warner Brothers, I'm Peter, I'm here with a reanning. [SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Michael. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so upset that I have to root for fucking Netflix to consolidate media and buy Warner Brothers discovery because the alternative is Paramount, fuck Paramount. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Fuck the elephants. [SPEAKER_00]: Fuck the elephants. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, when I look at the Warner Brothers catalog, [SPEAKER_02]: I think what would a bunch of pervert freaks do with this, you know, I'm curious. [SPEAKER_02]: I need to see it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, does that mean that you want to see Netflix? [SPEAKER_03]: What Netflix does with it? [SPEAKER_03]: Or with the Ellison, do with it. [SPEAKER_02]: I was referring to the Ellison's, unfortunately, we're forced to root for Netflix here, which by the way, I was just thinking about this, I was reminiscing the other day. [SPEAKER_03]: Streaming or just like DVD rental. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean streaming.
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean streaming specifically because when I first booted up Netflix That first year. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like you didn't have the same choice paralysis that you get now. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: You were just like There's a bunch like I can watch all of these movies and they're and they're just putting prestige television It's beautiful to have all these choices incredible [SPEAKER_02]: And now, when I hear that little dun dun dun, I'm like, ah, here we go.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a burden. [SPEAKER_02]: Just me, just me and my wife just scrolling through a hundred different options being like, no, no. [SPEAKER_03]: Moody in the toilet. [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: And then we're like fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Great British big and chef, whatever, who gets a shit. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a fucking shit anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: Alright, holiday special folks. [SPEAKER_02]: We've made it a bit of a tradition to do a movie review episode during the holiday season.
[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, we're pretty low on Supreme Court themed movies. [SPEAKER_02]: Thankfully, one popped up last year about a recent Supreme Court case that we've covered. [SPEAKER_03]: So, topical, so relevant. [SPEAKER_02]: your main. [SPEAKER_02]: If you guys remember, there is a case, uh, Kennedy V. Bramarton school district. [SPEAKER_02]: This is the praying coach. [SPEAKER_02]: There was a coach on a high school football team.
[SPEAKER_02]: You started praying in the middle of the field. [SPEAKER_02]: And then the school district was like, hey, I don't know if you can do that because separation of church and state. [SPEAKER_02]: And then you see it and took it up to the Supreme Court and won. [SPEAKER_02]: And they made a movie about it, folks. [SPEAKER_02]: And by day, I mean, a bunch of Christian dipshits, who don't understand how a film needs to be structured in order to be co-harmonerative or bright.
[SPEAKER_00]: Writing visual storytelling, none of it. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't understand any of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So the movie is called average Joe. [SPEAKER_02]: It came out last year, 2024. [SPEAKER_02]: I think we have to talk about the format first.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's done in the format of like a meta documentary where you have Joe coach Joe and his wife and they are narrated [SPEAKER_02]: Hey folks, if you want to hear the rest of this episode, you're going to have to subscribe.
