As a wide receiver coach in college football, and I think I can see some of the nuances of the receiver position in you as a rookie. Does he d really? You guys work a lot on route running and all the nuances are playing wide open. Uh. Yeah, When I was little he coached as well. So honestly, like my whole life, he's been anytime I'm at home, that's who I'm working with. Throughout college, anytime I came home, I was working with him. And then the same thing throughout
this offseason. When I was at home, I was running routs with him and getting prepared. You check in with him routinely after practice and games, and does see what kinds of questions does he ask you? Yeah, I mean a lot of times he's just trying to figure out, you know, how practice was, how I'm doing, you know, mentally, you know, being away from home and whatnot, and not especially with the time change because I don't really get to talk to my family as much anymore because you're
to sleep. But yeah, his questions more so are based on just really how I'm doing. And then when I get to talking to him about the film, then we break down, you know, you could have did this or that or this serious When that game's over, do you really zero in on the handful of really decent plays that you made, or do you think about the woman that went through your hands? The one man that's that's that's the only one I could get. I couldn't get that one out of my head. I you know, that one.
I just I just felt like such a just a bad teammate for BA. I felt like I let him down crazy, you know, getting him an interception on his thing. So yeah, that one just the one that stuck with me throughout that game or after that game generally, when you look through the film though, what what did you see in What were you happy with in your portment?
Definitely just uh, I felt like I was comfortable, and I think that was uh something that uh, I guess as a was like a goal of mine, you know what I mean, Like, uh, when you turn on the film, you watch UH from a standpoint of like assignment alignment, what I'm what I'm supposed to be doing, Like I'm I was comfortable when I was doing, you know, the right thing. So that was something that was a really good thing that I looked back on how'd you return opportunities?
I thought I did a good job that I uh u, especially on the punch you know, uh, squaring up the ball, making a good clean catch, and then on the kickoffs definitely I felt like I did. I did well as well. I just on a couple of those I wanted. I think it was one of them, like I wanted to hit it a lot harder than what I did. I feel like I, you know, just got to commit to it. So uh, I would say it was an okay day returning, great job fielding, but return wise that I could have
done better. You got to calibrate your mindset with with Ray Ray being down, there is an opportunity there, a clear opportunity to do returns at least for the early purpose season. Just trying not to do too much in those types of situations. Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, I'm gonna be myself, And I think that's the mindset that you kind of have going into that, going into that opportunity, like you said, or that situation, I got to be who I am regardless of the situation.
So I think that's the mindset on that you could have fair off them. Your guys, was it in on you? Are you the kind of return who does not like the fair catch? Or is it sort of especially game? Let me see what I can do. Oh, I mean I definitely was looking to make a play. I guess. Uh. I think I was kind of a communication like I was thinking I was safer than what I was. So in those situations, one hundred percent should have fair caught them.
But again, you know, just uh being who I am and just trying to make a play, So catch a whole lot of Oh yes, sir, And so that's not tons, But you didn't look like a guy who you know, only had thirteen retreats in college. Uh Is that just a natural skill for you or uh? Yeah, I mean it's something I've done my entire life. Again, back to my dad coaching. He was returned coach as well. So when I was like nine years old, I was catching punts. So I feel like I've done it forever. And uh
yeah throughout college and game. I only had thirteen. But I mean I don't think I ever missed a rep in practice, so I've got a lot of repetition of catching funds anything else. All right, thanks, alright, appreciate it
