Start out by saying, man, it was great to get a win on Saturday, all right, to see the guys bounce back. One thing we never questioned is physicality and our effort. We felt like we had better execution on Saturday. Still some things we need to improve on, need to work on, but very pleased of how we started the game with our starters and then most importantly, how we finish with the backup guys.
And with that, I'll take your questions.
Who were your standouts from Saturday's game?
I think.
Up front, when when you look at across the board with the starters playing, when when they left out you saw t Y, I thought he did a trend his job doing some things, had a sack, Marlin had a sack coming off the ball.
They hit us with a lot of perminive screens.
And to see those guys retrace, as we call them stack monsters come out of the pile and make plays with the premier trying to force it back inside, I thought was very pleasing and that's our style of play. Middle linebacker Jalen continued to stand out for us doing a great job playing the mic, great job communicating, getting everybody aligne uh. The physicality continue to show up each and every week playing downhill and then on the outside. I think you got to continue to look at Jayra Brown.
I think he made a critical play with at biting on the double move, giving us an opportunity chance right there to line up and play again. Of course they couldn't get the snap off, so uh, that was a big play of the game.
Did Russell Wilson look different this year to you than what you saw last year?
I know his later I think he's still, you know, again, another offense, just trying to learn the system. I still think he has a lot in the tank. I still think he's a game changer. You saw that with the early third down mishap on our part, not standing in our rustlings, he was able to escape and you his feet, so you know he didn't play long, neither did our ones. But I still think he has some juice in the tank. What does the composition stand for?
Your nickel back position?
It's open, just like every other position. I'm very pleased with where we are, And just to indulge a little bit of information and don't get it, don't get don't get in the habit of listening to this or or thinking that I'm gonna do this every time. But we're very pleased with where Oliver is. We brought him in for a reason.
Uh.
This leads all about matchups. So I never been a part of anything like this to have this kind of depth, right, I've been on teams where we're waiting to see exactly in the last preseason game and who gets cut and everybody's looking at this particular team trying to pour from. So to have the options that we have not only have the nickel position, but across the board lineback as well.
As D line is a luxury.
And again with the matchups that we're gonna face, Oliver is gonna be in there, youve may being there based off who we're playing.
Uh. We continue to just trying to find a perfect mix.
So I think that's the key thing, and that's the reason why you saw DMO on that last week. You look, he had like five or six snaps in there. Uh look pretty good, look good all week. Uh, doing practice, very natural in there. Uh, great vision, H. Understands concepts H. And most importantly, he gives you that ability to be able to still match up in the slot with with quicker receivers.
He Haw's Walmart cloking outside to you. He almost a chance to pick six.
Very disappointed he didn't get that one, Uh, particularly with the next play being what it was. But we gotta take advantage of those opportunities. I think and he's I I think he's playing well. You know, he had some critical uh plays in the run game, stepping up, making some good tackles. UH. So I'm excited to where he is, but most important right here, he needs to take advantage of those opportunities he see out of UH kind.
Of hard grave this camp and last game. He had a nice tackle on Russell Wilson stop him short of the first down.
So does how's he come along?
I think he's everything that we and we saw on tape, everything that he's been in this league, uh the last couple of years. UH, dominant force up front. You know, it's gonna be hard for them to single block him.
Uh. I think he.
Probably had double digit tacks last year inside, So I'm looking forward to him being at that force inside.
Uh.
He did make a critical tackle right there when Russell stepped up again.
Uh.
He was one of the guys that I talked about on the primitive screens coming out of there making another good play as well as t Y. So UH very pleased where he is right now and how he's playing.
How often do you ask about Bosa.
Out of my play pay grade? Out of my pay grade so I don't bring it up.
Are there things he's missing that that would be helpful, that that you would like to get him in there for?
Or is it as easy as just kind of plug and play when he gets back.
I think you guys been around here longer than I have, and I've seen it from Afar.
I think he'll be fine when he gets here.
When you say you're pleased with all Oliver, I guess wouldn't you like a nickel corner to be able to just handle big small and just han handle that position regardless of who is there?
Think about think about the league and highs made up.
Ye, it's no utopia, So for us to be able to have balance right there is critical.
You know, I wouldn't put Demo on a tight end.
We may wanna go nickel with uh twelve personnel, I'm not gonna put Demo on the tight end. All of us gonna be on that other tight end, you know, Uh, there's gonna be certain matchups in the slot right there based off Uh, who that.
Guy may be.
I'm not gonna put all of in that situation. Demo may be that guy. So there's teams that don't have this flexibility.
I think it's a luxury.
Yeah. The two games, he probably didn't have his best game against the Raiders. Who didn't miss the tackle against Marcus? I mean other things heap.
Uh, I think, uh yesterday, excuse me, Saturday. I think we all missed a lot of tackles. I know you're going back to the Raiders game, but that's something that we all need to improve on. H He did have a critical one on that third downplay, But it's tackling is something that we emphasized, we talk about. You know, we gotta continue to work it as coaches and continue to make sure that we improve on that first week
of the season. That's what you're gonna see, all right, A lot of fundamentals and technique is the reason why teams lose the football game, all right. We gotta do a great job with our fundamentals, and we got to do a great job communicated to make sure that everybody's on the same page.
Well, WEA Davis was back in practice today.
Where have your impressions been of him? And know he hasn't practiced for a.
Lot, but going back to when he was in there, I thought he was doing a great job.
You know.
Again, it's a lot of competition inside. I know we talk about hard Graves, we talk about Eric, but I feel very confident when Ken Law and Kevin Gibbings come in the game that we're not missing the beat. So Kd's done a great job as well. He had a up plays in practice today, so it's good to see him back out there.
They played it in they kind.
Of showed off as U what he can do athletically from from Braun.
I know he missed a little bit of time with a nick of some kind, but have you seen the study progress from him? You wanna see?
I saw it all off season, saw during the summer when he was here dedicating himself uh to be here all summer, and unfortunately he did get nicked a little bit.
But he's back. Uh.
That's just I mean a hell of a play that he made the dam in practice. As you mentioned, just his athleticism and his length uh allows him to be able to do things like that.
You talked about his pad level. Coaches talk about his pad level. Where where is he his gigging that right?
Well, Number one your life for players to be able to uh self correct themselves and see where they need to improve. So, uh kudos to him on that. Uh he's a tall, massive man, so pad level of some uh consardic emphasize and talks about all the time. You see them in individual period working on that, so I see the improvement.
Gotta have consistency. So thank you guys, appreciate it.
Yah,
