Right injuries for today. Jimmy Garoppolo will not practice. Ambry Thomas now practice, John Jennings limited ankle, Sampson Um limited ankle, and kin Law limited knee. Go ahead, Williams and most arresting. UM another good Greig green Lawn had to come out of the game. Briefly, What was the upshot of that? Ah, he's good now? How what were your impressions of just watching the Cowboys on Monday night and where they're coming in offensively? UM? I mean that they're a good team.
They've been at all year, probably looked at their best on Monday night, Um, which you expected him to UM, just with atmosphere and everything, But I mean they've been good bye for a while and just watch him this week. It's reminds me of their team from last year and only improved. When you think back on that game last year? What um, when it was a big win for us, I mean, I hated how it ended, how close it
got at the end. You know, I thought we made a few mistakes that um made it closer than needed to be at the end. But UM, not much. Don't don't related much of this year? What stands out about their defense? Um, I think starting with their D line, I mean it's just Dan Quinn jumps off the tape to me there, Um, the way he gets those guys to move. I mean, they got some real good rushers. Everyone knows about Lawrence and Parson, but I mean there's not one bad one there. Um. The way that they stunt,
the way they can create one on ones. Um, there's a reason their number one and getting into the quarterback with sacks and pressures and um, it does jump off the tape or is every matchup? No, I think everyone's unique. I don't think that matters much. I mean, if you've been coordinated and coordininating in the league for a while, you whether you know someone personally or not, you've got an idea of what game days like with them just
from film. Um. I mean I think Dan's did a great job just suggin like you always us and UM. I mean they've evolved a lot coverage wise, and they used to always do their three deep similar to ours, and UM, now it's more of a match three deep, which is a little bit different. But um, coaching the front that same way and getting them to play and
just mixing coverage is a little bit differently. He goes a long run and just a lot of the big chunk plays and in particular Brandon, I you was leading away with it some of his block What makes him such a good blocker position? UM? I mean, I think it always helps when you have length and size, and I think he does have that. UM. I think it's the mindset of all our guys, though I think we
we do have a lot of good players. What I like to say separates us from most from other teams with good players is, um, are good players really blocked to UM? Whichever one of our five guys has the ball to other four blocking as good as anyone, and UM, Brandon does that as good as anyone. But I think all our guys do also effective. Aren't after the cash? How much do you consider that as you're making play calls? And because I'm not just to get again all but
getting the same yeah always. I mean, it depends on your personnel. What guys are better at, UM depends on how people are playing you. UM. I think we're pretty balanced from a personnel standpoint that you've got guys that are good at underneath stuff, guys that are good at over the top stuff. Guys are good in zones, guys are gonna man so, UM, we do that schematically and and then teams play us a lot of different ways, so you kind of just let them pick their poison ways.
But how much is that sort of make him even better than most any time that, Um, you're a threat on zone checkdowns and you're a mismatching man coverage. I mean, that's ideally what you want from all three of the positions who catch football's tight ends, receivers, running backs. We were Nick talking about when you kind of ding him a difference line of my end of game and you laun from him. You've talked about like showings in which
rends bad ways sometimes? Is that creep? I mean obvious some of it's pretty planned, But how much are you doing it fewer motivation? How much of it is just kind of happens in the moment. How how do you go about that? I think most of it just happens. I mean it's UM, I think maybe how you do it can sometimes be to get a reaction from people, But I mean it's it's very simple with me because it all just goes off with what I see on tape,
And UM, I'm pretty consistent with that. You know, if I if I see something good or bad, I just start coaching. And so it depends who's in the room. Defense guys aren't always in the room. I get that the most on Saturday nights. I get it on our team meetings on Wednesdays and Fridays. The offense gets it all the time. Um. But I am pretty consistent with that. And but when you don't get talked about much in
front of the whole team, guys do. It's crazy. I mean, guys, Um, You've got a lot of grown man that they hear their name in a big room and it's just they get real nervous, which is crazy. You asked them to break down that they talk NonStop, and then you asked them to break down the team one day, and it's just like crickets. It's so it's Um, I think it's good practice for everybody to be in those situations the line. I don't know if you said posts names specifically. Okay,
now I'm gonna lee to fire under um. Yeah, but I mean it's also with everybody's human nature. I mean, we've been we won a lot of games in a row and done some good things, and UM, I think it's easy to look over things, but that's that's your your goals and just to win those games. Your goal is to be the last team standing, and you've gotta get better each week at that. And um, sometimes human nature, when you've won so many games in a row, people
stopped looking at how to get better. They think they've they've arrived, and you just you need to show them on the tape and you need to speak it because players aren't always seen it that way. They watch their assignment what they're doing, but they don't always see the big picture. And it's our job to show them that, um, what what they need to do to carry out their job at the highest level. And I want every single
person to play the top of their ability. And um, nobody's perfect, So I'm always striving to get guys play better Saturday they play Monday night. How much is having advantage as far as timing a little ut your time and you guys don't have to um, I mean I think it can be advantaged. Sometimes it could be a disadvantage. So I know the obvious ones. Um that you know you get less rest less time to recover. Um, you know,
I love having more time and stuff. But and sometimes you feel like you can't play those Thursday night games and you get to it and your team is just off the wall because um, they just they haven't so down at all and um by this time. And I don't think it is about recovery. It's about detail, and it's about executing, and it's about playing at a high level. Um, once you get to games, especially in the playoffs, that recovery,
I mean people forget about pretty quickly. And just watching the Rams last year, I mean they beat the Cardinals as good as anyone, and then they flew all the way to Tampa and I think they were up zero at halftime. So um, I don't think it means anything. Challenges defending, he's had coming up and down season, but he looked really good. Yeah, Dak has always been a challenge.
I mean, Dak is when you're a pure pocket passer who can make all the throws in there and read the defense real well and get the ball to the right spots and do it accurately. Um. That's why he's had the career he has. And when things do breakdown, he's got a knack for how to get out of that pocket. Makes some off schedule plays and um, that's why he's had such a successful career so far. The fung season, he had some real flash plays early in the season, and you know, popularity going and want to
be in probole and all that. How do you think he's played throughout the course of the year. Um, I think he's. I mean, he's had a hell of a year. I mean, that's why he's gotten everything he deserves. But but just like that question when Nick earlier, like he's plays on the number one defense, has made a number one a lot of plays for us. Um, but in everything, we're challenging to get better and things and all those guys go up and down through some stuff. I thought
he had a good game last week. Um, but I still want to see his best football, and I think that's ahead of us challenges. Is there tight end? I mean two touchdowns on last game and not just yeah, no, he's he's he's a good player. Um. He does a really good job of stretch stretching the defense vertically, gets down the seams very well. And DA does a really
good job of hitting him when he's open. So um, when you have the route running ability in the hands that he's got in the quarterback he's got it's he's a problem. A lot of your offensive players talked about they are being more meat left on the bout. How much more progress have you gotten towards that. I think we've got a lot more, um, But I mean still solid a ton. I mean last week it was it was a good game, you know, just on eight of
the nine possessions and stuff. But um, sometimes you've got to make some big plays to overcome some things that we should have done a lot easier. And I think we did that a number of times through the games. So I think we overcame a lot of stuff. But um, I still feel the same way you broke down into the offense this. Um, is there one player from that game? Um? No, there's there's a lot of place. UM. Sorry, rating after
we're watching, there's like seven of them probably tied. Um I really I really wanted to hit that post or across the middle. Um. There's a couple of things on defense, one on special teams, but I'm not gonna get any more detail than that. It's hard not to but a very good ker regardless of regular season preseason, but he playoffs in his career, and I think thirty five extra points. Does that tell you anything more about him that you know when the pressure is the highest? Oh? Yeah, I
mean right. Also, he's been one of the best kickers of in our generation. I mean he's been extremely consistent. You see how long he's been doing it, And UM, when it comes to the playoffs, that's the most important thing. And I feel like he's always gonna make it regardless of what game it is. Um, that's how he's He's given us that feeling in these six years. And UM, I guess it makes sense that I even feel stronger in the playoffs about it. Spencer started in the game
this year is how has he grown? And see at this point we're just we're excited with how he came in and really UM tried to get that spot, especially with some guys heard you got a ton of reps at it back to O T A S and training camp and he's come in and been thrown into the heat of battle. Had one setback with the ankle injury I think about a month ago. Um, but he's also had a real good guy behind him and Dan and um, every time Dan goes in he does a good job too.
So he's been pushing him throughout the year. And I think it's been great Spencer to make it through all this year. How long it is for these rookies, um to do it at a high level. And I think he's continued to get better and uh, I still think he can get a lot better than also from the nineties with Cowboys and Niners now get to play the back to back years in the playoffs and sort of rekindle that. Yeah, I mean, I think that's how rivalries happen.
And you guys knew it from the eighties when it started out, And I mean I did remember so much in my childhood from sixth grade to ninth grade because I was here to ninety four. So it was the biggest rivalry in football to me growing up. And then usually that goes away when you don't meet in the playoffs a bunch. And um, we had a big game last year, We've got a big game this year. So the more you do that, the bigger it gets. Again generally, what have they shown you this year? Um, I mean,
I think the pride they've taken in everything. I mean, those guys, Um, those guys are the hardest on themselves out of any position. Group we have, UM, they always are looking to get better. They're always any time they missed something. They're they're hard on themselves. UM, the way that they practice, the way they do individual UM, that group. You know, Chris has done an unbelievable job with that group.
Trent being the older guy and um, you know, the superstar of the line position, He's been an unbelievable leader just by how he works and practices and plays, and and then all the guys to me, just every time that they've struggled with something, they've corrected it the next week. And um really just focused on football all year and they've played at a very high level. All Right, thanks guys,
