¶ Things Revealed
Hi, and welcome to our brand new 30 series Chronicles podcast, a show that's hopefully going to open your eyes to something, dare I say, supernatural happening out there that's been going on for centuries, whether we choose to believe it or not. I'm your host Lee, and with me is someone who has some unusual first hand experiences to share with us from his time as a former officer with the Detroit Michigan police force. This is former officer Indio from the Detroit 30 division special units.
Yes, I was with the 30 series unit in the third precinct in Detroit, Michigan. So officer Indio, can you tell us a little bit about this special unit? Yes, the special unit has existed ever since the Detroit police has existed. It just changes its name. Back in the 70s, it was called the big four. Prior to that, it was called booster unit. Then the malice screen trial thing happened with butts in the nevers.
Third on the city's southwest side, it was there that at 1030 last night, he was beaten to death according to witnesses by two white police officers of the third precinct's so-called booster squad. Those officers have been identified as Walter Buttson and Larry Nevers. Then they changed it to 30 series. And now it's called tactical service unit from what I've been
told. And so I was during the time when it was called 30 series. And it's a specialized undercover unit, plain on plain, meaning plain police car, plain uniform, a street wear, no badge, nothing showing. And we just handled a lot of interesting calls. High felony calls. When you say supernatural, can you elaborate a little more onto this? And I guess we can maybe start out with your first experience on that, I guess, as a police officer. You obviously,
I take it, how did you fall into this department? How did you, were you recruited? Were you, you know, are you, are you like, did you grow up a religious person? Religion was in the family, but I was never really going to church and doing communion and doing all the things that a Catholic person would normally do. I believe that there's a God and I believe there was a devil and that's probably as far as my religion went. I joined the police
department in 1995. I was assigned to the third precinct because it's mostly Hispanic community. And when I was assigned to the third precinct unit, I was uniform at the time and I was with a field training officer who you ride along with for a period of time until they feel that you're comfortable enough to sort of be set free and deal with the community.
Tell us about the first experience, I guess, that led you to joining or knowing about this, you know, this other world out there that, you know, that happens. I went to a domestic violence run and we were talking to the victim and she was beat up really bad, but she had scratches and the scratches look weird because they were long gated and they were in threes. It wasn't like a normal human scratch. It was almost like a claw. And then she told us
that her boyfriend at the time left on foot. So we went looking for him because we knew he couldn't get too far and we knew the area well and it was just a matter of time before we ran into him. And after doing a few circles around, we didn't see anything. And then there's a park adjacent to this woman's house and it's called Clark Park. It's on Burner and Clark. And it's pretty long, kind of reminds you of a New York park. And so I was like, we should just go in there and look
around and see if he's hiding behind a tree. And so we went in there and we're shining our spotlights looking around for anybody. And something just kept itching me to look up. And so I looked up, but I also put my spotlight up and that's when we saw the individual on top of a tree. When I say on top of a tree, it's probably the size of a palm tree. And he was peering down, looking down at us. And then when he realized that he was made, he literally leaped off of that thing.
When Kim came crashing down and I'm thinking this guy is dead, or if he's not dead, he's gonna snap both of his legs and nothing, none of that happened. He hit the ground like a cat and then he took off running. We then pursued him in our Mark police car and we were gunning it. When I mean gunning it, you could hear the engine just kicking in and we couldn't catch up to this guy for, you know. How fast would you say that your squad car was doing?
Easily 50. Okay. 50 miles an hour and we're hitting dips and taking chunks of grass with us and the wheels are rolling. This guy is still ahead of us. So you're chasing this guy through a park? Yeah, through a park. And this is, you know, he has nothing on Jerry Rice. This guy was moving faster than I've ever seen anybody move. So I'm like, this is kind of crazy. So I had to look
over to my partner who was driving. Like, are you really hitting the gas? And I could see this phenomenon going up and we're not catching up to this guy for nothing. He finally gets to the edge of the park and on the edge of the park, there's a highway called I-75 and that will take you to Toledo, Ohio or up towards Detroit city. And he gets to the edge of that park where the freeway is and it's an eight lane highway. And, you know, four lanes,
that way and four lanes come in this way. He gets to the sidewalk and there's this Peter Pan jump and literally clears the fence down to the embankment of the freeway and then starts running. And we're just done there and we're like, holy shit. And so adjacent to it is a little overpass that goes onto the other side of the freeway. So we took it. We took that path and then we went in the wrong direction on the other side and we see
him getting ready to hit the fence. And then my partner just got into the car and probably hit this guy. I'm not even over exaggerating, like 60 miles an hour. Hit him right square center of the car and this guy goes flying about 50 feet, hits the ground, does a whole tumble and I'm thinking, oh, fuck, we just killed this guy. How are we going to explain this? And he didn't die. He was scratched up a bit, a little bit bleeding from the elbow and knees. And but he started getting up
again. And that's when we sort of jumped on him because when he was rolling around, that gave us time to sort of exit the car and jump on him. So what was going through your mind at this time when you, you know, when you guys finally caught up to this guy and apprehended him and, you know, it was he on, you know, did you think he was on speed, drugs? That ran through my head. I'm thinking this guy's on PCP. It's going to be the fight of our life because I fought with somebody
prior that was on PCP and he has this superhuman strength. But I knew that something was off because the best I could explain it because I was thinking about this was, have you ever seen an alligator in the water and there's sort of like this this change in his eye that that happened to him and his eyes were just pure black. And then when I saw that it scared the shit out of me and I'm like, what the hell is this?
And so we started pouncing on him, pouncing them, literally putting our hands on him to get them under control. And then we cuffed them up and sort of hog tied them and threw them back of the state of the scout car and took them to the precinct for processing. And during that time, more officers came with us because we thought we he was under PCP. And so when we took him out of the scout car and we finally put him in the cell, he just stood there quietly rocking back and forth.
And so I went and did the report and I wrote what happened. I was a little hesitant on certain things. And I'm like, we literally hit the sky with the car. How do I explain that? But I wrote it because I'm being a fresh police officer. You don't want to lie. Yeah, you want to tell the truth. You don't want anything coming back to you with all his injuries. Yeah. So when I was writing this report, I'm like, yeah, we're going straight to internal affairs.
We're in trouble. But I told the truth. And during the time of writing the report, it took me about an hour to write it because there were so many things that had happened. And the information that you have to put in this report, the whole narrative of what happened. Two men came in and these men were nicely dressed in black, you know, like black suits. And they came in and I see them from my peripheral and I'm like, who's that? And I started don't pay attention
anymore. And then a few minutes go by and I see them take the guy that we just arrested. So in my mind, I'm thinking, oh, shit, internal affairs, this is something's getting ready to happen. So I turn the report to my lieutenant at the time. And he sort of grabs the paper and he tears it up. And I'm like, did I do something wrong? And he's looked at me dead face and said, this never happened.
