Joe Nedder is a passionate and inspirational instructor who joined the fire service on April 2,
1977 on a small rural volunteer department. he became an instructor for the Massachusetts Fire Academy where he developed and implemented a Firefighter I/II program for Volunteers and On call firefighters. Nedder has been attending the FDIC every year for 25 years. He has taught at the FDIC every year since 2010. He has written numerous articles for Fire Engineering Magazine Volunteer Corner. Joe has authored 2 books: Rapid Intervention Crews (Jones and Bartlett) and Managing Risk in the Volunteer Fire Department: Concepts, Methods and Practices for Fire Engineering books. A self-described disciple of risk management, Nedder is on a mission to spread the word that continuous, meaningful training is necessary to be safe and work effectively as a firefighter. When you ask those who have taken one of his classes to describe his teaching style you will repeatedly hear the words knowledgeable, passionate, inspirational and fun.
