Audio as a Visual Medium is a paradox in many ways. But when done well, writing for the ear, editing and sound design can create a visual world through audio. Camp Monsters from REI…yes the brand, is a perfect example of this.

Written, hosted and narrated Weston Davis, Camp Monsters features as they put it “stories of impossible encounters with impossible creatures in the wildest corners of North America.” Along with producer Chelsea Davis and sound designer Nick Patri, REI has created a branded podcast that doesn’t feel like a branded podcast. It feels more like an old fashioned radio drama reimagined.
