¶ Understanding Sin and Its Confession
welcome ladies and gentlemen here we are in first john chapter five people are questioning the fact that we say no one is without sin And yet, John talks about the condemnation of sinners. Isn't that a conflict? And the answer is no, it is not. When we talk about the sinner... that does not know God and he's headed to the pit, that is one that never confesses his sins. He's one that's wallowing in his sins. He's absorbing his sins.
He doesn't have any guilt over any of his sins. Sometimes he doesn't even know what sin is because he's ignorant. But still, the people that know the Lord... slip up. They're not labeled here sinners in this aspect because they confess their sin. The sinners that he's talking about that are against God. are not confessing sin they don't believe in Christ they are wallowing in their evil so there's the difference in sinners
¶ Believing, Loving God's Commandments
But here in chapter 5 we go on, and he's still talking about commandments and then loving God and how God loves us. So here we go. Verse 1, whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. And everyone that loveth him that begot loveth him also. that is begotten. All right, so you love the Christ that did the begotten, and then your fellow people... that have been born again into the spirit you love those also because he is now born in the spirit with you
To it says, by this we know that we love the children of God when we love God and keep his commandments. Once again, there's the beauty of the doctrine. 3 it says, For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not grievous. That's why I'm saying, The Spirit will guide you. The Spirit will motivate you. The Spirit will teach you. So a lot of this will come easier and easier as you grow in the Spirit. That's being taught here.
¶ Faith Overcomes the World
For it says, for whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world. And this is the victory. That overcometh the world. Even our faith. Because without faith we cannot please the Lord. Period. Five. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? this is he that came by water and blood even jesus christ not by water only but by water and blood And it is the spirit that beareth witness because the spirit is truth. So you got to birth in the flesh.
and you're born again in the Spirit. And notice here that the Holy Ghost is truth. And even the best political scientists that observe the world and talk about the things that are happening in the world. There's a lot of information you can gain from them, but you will never get the big picture because they're always short of the mark when it comes to... all the details and how they mesh together as we watch the world and the signs of the times. But if you're a father...
If you're an elder, you can go through some of the people that don't believe and just gain the information you need to be watching, and you don't allow them to affect you in a negative way. You cast out the stuff that's...
¶ Spirit, Water, Blood Witness
not of God. So, water is... Sometimes spirit itself, as I said, the sprinkling of the blood and sprinkling of the water, those are two things that symbolize spirit. And even before the world was created, it moved upon the waters of the heavens. And we talk about the spirit above the firmament, and that is the spiritual water. Okay? He's tossing this stuff all around. It's great. For there are three that bear record in heaven. The Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.
And these three are one. Okay? The Word, of course, is Christ. And they have the relationship, Father-Son relationship, and they have the Holy Ghost. and what does it say here these three are one and there are three that bear witness in the earth the spirit and the water and the blood And these three agree in one. Okay, so notice here the Holy Ghost is in both places, in the physical and in the spiritual. Okay, so...
¶ Eternal Life Through the Son
Water and blood. Remember, life is in the blood in Genesis there. 9, it says, If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God. which he hath testified of his son. See, there's no other door and no other way. And if that offends somebody out there, they are in deep... Deep doo-doo. Ten, it says, He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself. He that believeth not God hath made him a liar.
because he believeth not the record that God gave of his son. So we're going back to the written word here and how important it is. Studying it is a joy. It is not a grievous toil. It can be grievous at times, but it's so much fun. It's so much... There's so much growth out of it. You just get to the point that you are just totally addicted to the growth process spiritually. And you just can't say enough good about getting in the doctrine.
11, it says, And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son hath not life. That's what I said. These people love death, and they're going to get their cup filled up. They sure do. All their ceremonies and everything teach death. Thirteen, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know.
that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And like I said, I'm putting out a warning here because these people are really... mudslingers they want to destroy that name they don't think god is in control you think god didn't give the world the religions he gave us the doctrine he gave us this english
and that he's not capable of translating the name of his son, that all-important name, and that we've got to have some name out here no one else knows, no one can remember it. And no one can pronounce it. In fact, one of the things that the Jews say is his name doesn't mean. It's not a name. It means Messiah. And they say, well, that's his name. Right. Because they're, well, it don't matter.
¶ Prayer, Sin, and Idolatry
First coming, second coming. Well, when someone gets here, we'll find out. That's the recipe for stupidity, folks. Watch out for the name. 14, and this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. 15, and if we know that he heareth us, Whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. And again, he went over it earlier by obeying the commandments and doing his will.
our prayers are heard 16 says if any man sees brother sin i sin which is not unto death he shall ask and he shall give him life For them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death. I do not say that he shall pray for it. And that is what? Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost, folks. That is the sin. There's different ways of doing that. Lying.
to the holy ghost lying about the holy ghost pretending in front of the holy ghost using the power of the devil and saying it's the holy ghost i can go on it's not just denying christ That's a whole nother form of blasphemy. Christ explained it. You can blaspheme the Father, you can blaspheme the Son, but if you blaspheme the Holy Ghost, you're You're headed to the pit. So here John's not even praying for that. Talking in phony tongues.
With no interpreter? How do you like that? Running around some chapel saying that's it. Waving a hanky. Howling in church. Have you ever seen that? Flopping around like a dead fish. Like they do in the Kabbalah.
When they go into a trance. All that stuff, all that paganism, they bring it into church and say it's the Holy Ghost. Look out, sinner. 17. all unrighteousness is sin and there is a sin not unto death we know that whatsoever is born of god 18, we know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not, but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself.
and that wicked one toucheth him not. Okay, we explained that. We went into that, that the difference when he says the sinner, that's the one that doesn't even... blink when they do something wrong they're a psychopath they don't have any guilt and they're not praying for forgiveness they're not confessing their sins they're not doing none of that The saints are the ones that are concerned about backsliding. The sinner himself...
Does he considers any kind of moral compass? He considers that weakness. Believe me, there's a big difference in what John is explaining here. Okay, we'll go on. 19. And we know that we are of God and the whole world lieth in wickedness. See, there's a lot of people that get very upset if you tell them that you're not concerned with the world like you are where you go when you pass on.
That is completely Greek to people. And these people, they claim they know Christ, but yet things like this about not loving the world and the things in it, this really... Infuriates them. So they need help, folks. They really do. They need some good studies in the Bible. That's my recipe for it. Anyway, on we go in 20. It says... And we know that the Son of God is come and has given us an understanding that we may know him that is true. And we are in him that is true.
Even in his son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 21. Little children. Keep yourselves from idols. Amen. And that includes that biggest and most popular idol, the Shaft of Baal, the Follick symbol. The obelisk, the monolith, the most popular idol that goes back to Babylon. It's used over and over and over in the timetable religion of Satan. and in his astrology. I'll see you in the second epistle here, folks.
