Oh shit, Madge is a hoax

We listened to the latest Yeast Radio podcast, and laughed until we realized it was all an act. Madge is not at all what he or she appears to be. I looked over at Adam and asked how he felt about this. ‘Not good.’ Then he asked how I felt, and I said I had repped Madge as being something other than what she or he was. An act. We both agreed we should do an instant podcast to explain and raise questions.

Where did the time go?

It’s been over a month since the last Trade Secrets, what with Adam’s move and bandwidth situation, and my persistent cold and laryngitis, well, it’s been hard to get it together. Even so the plan for our new venture is taking shape. In this TS, we talk about the four sides to the puzzle, Content tools. Readers and aggregators, iPods and iPod-alikes. Content. Bandwidth. Think of this as a state-of-the-industry piece for this tiny little boomtown, by Adam and myself.

A homo-continental Trade Secrets!

Adam, Steve Gillmor and I review the third BloggerCon, all in the same room at Rickey’s Hyatt in Palo Alto. The sound quality is mostly good, if the content is suprisingly mundane. Blah blah blah blah blah blah BloggerCon.

The Red Sox won, so it's time for Trade Secrets

Bruce Springsteen plays for the Boss in Madison. The Red Sox win. Adam and Dave shoot the shit for an hour or more. And the MP3 actually made it to the Web! Now that’s some shit!

Is it comedy or news?

Adam and I meet over the Internet to discuss 1 hour 9 minutes worth of michegas that I wish I could remember. Steve Gillmor says it’s comedy. Let’s hope so!

Did Edwards cop a feel under the table?

Is Dick Cheney as sexy as he looks? Did Cheney win the debate? Did we actually play another Prince song in today’s Trade Secrets? The answer to at least one of these questions is yes!

Will Kerry win the Presidency so Dave gets a Mac?

A shocking truth is revealed in today’s Trade Secrets podcast. It’s true. If John Kerry wins the election I’ll get a Mac. Let the record show it’s no longer in doubt. I may be a Mac user before the year is out. Sound quality is somewhat improved this time. I don’t sound like I’ve had my mouth shot full of novacaine, but I sure sound like I got a lithp. Then an iPodder started running and chopped my speech to bits. Next time we’ll use Skype. It’ll sound better.

How can I miss you when you won't go away?

Today’s Trade Secrets is about everything of importance to the world today. The only thing we missed is Jon Stewart’s outburst about the President’s ‘group of folks’ line. Group of folks? Group of folks?, Stewart raged. A group of folks is what you run into at the Olive Garden. The President was referring to Osama bin Laden and the group of worldwide terrorist… folks. Okay. At no extra cost, a few little soliloquys, nothing earth shaking, just little ones. And oh yea. Mt St Helens.

Leakage

I’ve learned over the past weeks to always have the audio recording setup ready when Dave and I chat. We always talk voip and have been trying different setups and applications. But inadvertantly, one of will say ‘we should be recording this’ and I flip the switch. This morning Dave was up early and we recorded a podcast, where we talked about ’leakage’, played some prince and finally got the sip-phone stuff working

Trade Secrets September 25 2004

Earlier this evening (my time) Dave suggested we try out skype in anticipation of our next TS podcast. It turned into an episode filled with brainfarts, laughter and 2 geeks trying to configure a new (non-skype) voip application.

Say goodbye to Twinkies?

Today’s Trade Secrets begins with some bad news about Twinkies, and ends with an idea about an aggregator for Netflix use. More comments and links here later. The MP3 is ready go go…

Welcome to Trade Secrets!

We did our first show today, after three takes, it was a bit of a burnout, but we’re rolling now. Now I have to get the RSS 2.0 feed configured, even though Manila doesn’t have direct support for enclosures. (Postscript: Got it done. Now I have to do the user interface, but the backend part works. Jake let me know if you want the code.)" The first day got an email from a fan saying that Dave knows his tech stuff, but he hopes I won’t say the same things about President George W Bush on Trade Sec...
